About me..

It is no exaggeration to say that design and architecture is the lens through which I have made sense of the world since I was a child. Raised in London and Oslo, my mother is an interior architect and my father works with digital platform design. My twin sister is a product designer. Conversations around family mealtimes were often about projects, principles, industry trends, clients, and of course, design ideas. From childhood, I developed my design approach and ideas through drawing, sketching and, building, both physical models as well as digital, using various software.

My 6th form specialisms were sciences, since design was not a curriculum choice at my high school. From 2019-2020 I took foundation courses in architecture and design in Denmark to prepare for my undergraduate studies. These foundation courses have helped me to develop my design thinking skills, as well as gain hands-on experience in model-making in wood, plastics, paper, and metal, rapid prototyping of ideas, user research, technical drawing, and different sketching methods.

As well as the foundation courses, I have also worked as a part-time project assistant in my mother’s studio, working on commercial projects including, office, hotel, and residential developments. The studio has won several international awards for its work. This work experience has also given me a strong interest in the business side of architecture and interior design, including project application and budgeting processes, as well as helping me to understand how planning authorities evaluate new building and renovation applications from several criteria before making a decision.

I follow particular architects to try to understand their style and the way it has evolved throughout their careers. Nordic architecture in particular. I firmly believe architecture is at its best when it combines playfulness with practical problem-solving, for example as seen in the work of one of my favourite architects, Bjarke Ingels. His innovative approach, starting without limitations and then steadily developing the idea, eventually adding the real-life constraints that new buildings must be subject to, he is able to turn something that started as a pure concept into concrete reality. This mix of bold experimenting and pragmatic adjustment is something I find incredibly inspiring.

As an architect, I hope to have a positive impact on society and work with innovative processes and materials to revolutionize architecture´s impact in the world. A degree in architecture, is an opportunity to collaborate with other students and exchange knowledge, ideas, strategies, and experience from lecturers and visiting practitioners. Like steps in a ladder, I see courses and modules as the way to progressively build my understanding, try out different approaches and mature my personal aesthetics.

Motivation in any field is key to success, and my pre-degree studies have proven to me that architecture is my passion within design, and that my motivation to continue my studies is very high. To my studies, I bring a positive outgoing personality, a great work ethic, the ability to communicate concepts and ideas, and a strong commitment to working as part of a team of other students on projects.
